That's a very good likeness. I hear you on hair ...it always gives me fits...so I usually just make it as simple as possible. =P Don't be *overly* critical of yourself, though, this turned out well. :)

I'm totally the same way. I can barely draw a stick figure, let alone a photorealistic portrait! I'm in complete awe of pretty much everyone on dA that can draw like this.

Nice work!
Like the smoothness in the shading.
For the hair, I'm hardly an expert on the area, but you might try to add a bigger variation of highlights and shading, and not be so consistent with the strokes. Try drawing "areas" rather than single hairs. But honestly, it's really good!
